Artist Statement
I paint to share my aesthetic experience in life with others in simple, poetic terms.
My lifelong existential search for who we are has finally led me to paint. Painting seems to be the best means for me, if not the only means, of conveying a truth that I witness in life. It comes from the backdrop of our existence: nature. It quietly reveals how good everything is for us humans.
I observe and recall the sky, land, and water in awe with a fresh eye and mind. They are ever-changing yet orderly, self-contained yet embracing, and mysterious yet revealing. Their divine beauty is a boundless inspiration for me. I contemplate it in a spirit of reverence and extract an image that urges me to visualize. My naturescape shows the very essence of the scenery that hushes my soul instantly. I paint it simply, cleanly, and thinly; simply to sum up its beauty, cleanly to preserve its highest moment, and thinly to convey its ethereal mood.
My journey in art, as in our life journey, is an evolving process which follows its due course. Regardless of its phase, I aim to deliver to the viewers my observations and appreciation of the sublime beauty of life. I achieve this by letting my poetic sensibilities react to the subject, and compose and color my vision of reality.
